Safety:
The procedure is done under local anesthesia with IV sedation, with an overnight stay for observation. This avoids the risks of general anesthesia and allows us to manage early recovery directly. Major complications are uncommon. Performed by Dr. Unnikrishnan S, MCh (Plastic Surgery), who has corrected this condition for many men over the past decade.
Why we keep you overnight?
Some people feel faint on the first night after surgery, and we'd rather that happens here, with us. The next morning we check and clean the wounds, remove the drains, apply fresh dressings and fit your pressure garment before you go home. You leave knowing everything has been looked at, and so do we.

Recovery:
Light desk work in about a week. Driving in 2-3 weeks. Full gym in 4-6 weeks. A compression vest is worn under your clothes for 2 weeks continuously, then 2 more weeks at night. Most of the recovery happens at home.
Scars are small. The liposuction marks below the nipple fade. The areolar scar follows the natural skin colour border and becomes hard to see.
